In our last post, we construed how NanoTechnology is getting deeply entrenched in today’s life and its potential is limitless in terms of practical applications that provides great promise of improved human life. Countries around the world are desperately trying to explore possible applications by working at the scale of individual molecules. Innovators already praise the benefits it would bring to the entire society and envision future possibilities of unique applications across business segments to elevate revenue streams by developing ingenious products and services.

Despite the future promise of NanoTechnology, detailed research is essential to ensure positive results for applications in any business segment or industry. Setting up appropriate methodologies to implement NanoTechnology research is the ultimate and the most challenging step. Meaningful communication is especially needed in the case of NanoTechnology as the public seems to be more skeptical and less deferential about it. This is the reason why creating a relationship and an exchange between stakeholders is regarded as being essential.  Today, we wish to share some of the most prominent and promising use cases where NanoTechnology can be successfully applied to improve business processes and generate better services for customers and more revenue for companies.

NanoTechnology in Cancer Treatment
The use of NanoTechnology in cancer treatment offers some exciting possibilities, including the possibility of destroying cancer tumors with minimal damage to healthy tissue and organs, as well as the detection and elimination of cancer cells before they form tumors. Most efforts to improve cancer treatment through NanoTechnology are at the research or development stage. However the effort to make these treatments a reality is highly focused. For example, U.S. National Cancer Institute is fostering innovation and collaboration among researchers to resolve some of the major challenges in the application of NanoTechnology to cure cancer. In addition, there are many universities and companies worldwide working in this area. It is possible that these efforts will result in cancer eliminated in a decade or so, in the same way that vaccines nearly eliminated diseases like smallpox and polio in the last century.

NanoTechnology Consumer Products
NanoTech is already being used into lots of consumer products in day to day life, from clothing to tennis racquets. In fact, you will find dozens of products in your home that are manufactured using some kind of NanoTechnology. A NanoPorous material called Aerogel that is an excellent insulator and it is used for insulating the walls of your home. NanoParticle based solar cells are used to charge cell phones and other electronic devices on the go instead of carrying chargers and power banks along. It is also expected that Skin care products will soon use NanoParticles to deliver vitamins deeper into the skin to increase its effectiveness. Sunscreens will use NanoParticles for blocking UV rays without leaving any residue on the skin. Lithium ion batteries will use NanoParticle based electrodes powering electronic vehicles.

NanoTechnology Food Products
According to a survey, Chicken meat is one of the most consumed across the world and increased poultry consumption may be attributed to the fact that chicken meat is an affordable and accessible source of protein with a low fat content, and that there are few religious or cultural barriers related to its consumption. Ease of cooking has also contributed to poultry meat becoming more popular among consumers. It is also considered to be a main source for Food Bourne diseases. NanoTechnology can not only help in making poultry meat safer but also increase production without increasing the cost significantly. Applications of NanoTechnology in this industry includes implementation of Nano-Enabled Disinfectants, Biocides, Protective Clothing, Air and Water Filters, Packaging of Edible Products, Biosensors and timely detection of contaminants including technologies that assure the authenticity and traceability of products.

NanoTechnology in Electronics
NanoElectronics offer insights into how we might increase the capabilities of electronics devices while also reducing their weight and power consumption resulting in longevity of device usage span. Some of the NanoElectronics under development, and its applications will help improve screen display as well as reducing power consumption at the same time. It will also aide in increasing the density of memory chips and researchers are already developing a type of memory chip with a projected capacity of 1 TB of memory per square inch or even higher. Researchers at UC Berkeley have demonstrated a low power method to use NanoMagnets as switches, like transistors, in electrical circuits. Their method might lead to electrical circuits with much lower power consumption than transistor based circuits currently being used.

NanoTechnology in Fuel Cells
NanoTechnology is already being used to reduce the cost of catalysts used in fuel cells to produce hydrogen ions from fuel such as methanol and to improve the efficiency of membranes used in fuel cells to separate hydrogen ions from other gases such as oxygen. It will also help in bringing down the price of Hydrogen Vehicles and make them a realistic option for more people if a NanoTech based catalyst is used instead of Platinum. The material would be cheap and easy to produce in large quantities which will make it an ideal candidate for replacing costly platinum catalysts used in hydrogen fuel cells today.

NanoTechnology in Space Exploration
Some scientists have predicted that before the end of the 21st Century, mankind will need to colonize in space or on the moon for continued survival and advancements in Human Technologies. NanoTechnology may prove the key to making space exploration more practical as advancements in NanoMaterials will lead to lightweight solar sails and a cable for a space elevator because conventional methods for space travel used today are highly expensive and fuel consumption to pass through the environment is too much. By significantly reducing the amount of rocket fuel required, the advances could lower the cost of reaching orbit and traveling in space. In addition, new materials combined with NanoSensors and NanoBots could improve the performance of spaceships, spacesuits, and the equipment used to explore planets and moons, making NanoTechnology essential before the natural resources on Earth are completely exhausted.

NanoTechnologies will sooner or later have applications in every business sector and products we use in our everyday routine. Visit the AuroSys Solutions Blog to get insights on latest and emerging advancements in technology that are expected to improve human lives as applications of NanoTech are boundless and already being researched by several institutions and businesses around the world.
